Hi,
I’m part of Public Art For Racial Justice Education (PARJE) a local group of volunteers who are interested in building community through art. We are fundraising to paint four “Sister” murals about racial justice and local history in New London, Norwich, Old Lyme and East Lyme. We are also very excited to have the full support of CT Murals, so this work will be done to the highest professional standards. The Sister Murals Project is a community based initiative. We will have students and community members form the different towns helping to create each others murals. Our goal is to create beautiful art, educate, and build a strong community in Eastern CT.
But we need your help! The Sister Murals will cost $7,500 per town.
We are asking for donations both big and small. PARJE has a matching grant from Sustainable CT. In order to get those matching funds we need over 300 donors! That means a $10 donation is just as important as a $100 donation.
Please choose one mural below to support or support them all. Any amount makes a difference!
Thank you so much for your support.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How does fundraising work?
A: Fundraising works best by word of mouth. We need everyone to talk about it and ASK THEIR FRIENDS TO DONATE. Even though we are getting press and posting to social media, we have found that most donations come from asking our friends and community members to contribute.
Q: How does online fundraising work?
A: We are fundraising through Patronicity, a website that accepts donations for us. They set up 4 pages (one for each town) and we need to raise $7,500 for EACH TOWN. If we do not raise enough (our total goal is $30k) we will still get the donated amount. Say we can only raise $20k, we will get that $20k plus a matching grant of $20k from Sustainable CT and will have to make do.
Q: Can I donate by check?
A: Yes. You can mail a check to our PO box. P.O. Box 324 Old Lyme, CT 06371
